Summertime! :)

This is the last week of our summer vacation-how did THAT happen?!?  So...I need to get back in the habit of doing our blog.  :)  We have had an AMAZING summer & done several AOKs along the way!  :)  We have also had TONS done for us-I have TRIED to keep track but I'm sure I've forgotten some.  If I did I hope that someone somewhere has already done an AOK for the sweet people that did them for us & the AOK dominoes have kept falling so to speak.  :)
We had the opportunity a couple of times to take buggies back for people while we were shopping.  We had a lady in Walmart help us w/ a question we had.  :)  We also got to give someone @ Hobby Lobby a coupon we were going to use b/c our item was already 50% off-win-win!  :)
We took an AMAZING Girl's trip out West this summer & we had opportunities to show AOKs everyday!  We ate a restaurant in Murdo, SD.  They were 2 waitresses down & in the weeds-BAD.  We were just sitting there & my Mom had the great idea to wrap silverware for them.  Then we bused their tables for them.  We also left them a very nice tip.  It was a WONDERFUL way to show Mady that SIMPLE things could really make a HUGE difference!  I am honored that my Mamma was there to show us the way.  :)
We had TONS of AOKs done for us on the trip as well.  Mady got her seat belt stuck on the driver's headrest once (???)  & we had to get some rescue workers to help us get it off.  They did it in about 30 secs & were super sweet about it-TRUE.story!  LOL! ;)  We also had a couple of car issues while we were out-no surprise as far as we drove-we had guys @ Walmart fix our tire pressure for free one morning.  We had people at a Ford dealership check our air conditioner AND give Mady an ice cold Gatorade for free.  Then we had another dealership in Hayz, KS FIX our air & get a nail out of our tire for free!  We were DEFINITELY BLESSED on our trip!  Hopefully, we were blessings to others as well.  :)
After we got back Shawn had some issues with the fuel pump on his truck.  My Mom was nice enough to take Shawn to work twice (while I took Mady to Art Camp) & to loan us the money to get it fixed.  Once again-Mom to the rescue!  :)
We got together as a grade level to work on some beginning of school stuff & one of our new 1st grade members-Kelly opened her lovely home up to us & even let Mady play with her kiddos.  :)  Laurel had gotten tons of stuff prepped for the mtg. which was awesome!  Former K teachers shared their planning ideas which I loved AND another new member-Lindsay went to make us some banners for some of our grade wide goals this year, way to step up new teachers!  :)
Yesterday we went to the zoo & were having a picnic lunch-apparently a lot of other people had the same idea & there wasn't a seat for all of us.  A sweet man gave up his seat so we could sit together as a family-SO very nice!  :)  We accidentally left our cups by a bench when Mady & her friend Ke were riding the train.  Her Mom Janna brought them back to us while we were @ the Splash pad-SO sweet!  :)
We sent eight cards out over the summer-BDs, Anniversary, Get Well & Sympathy.  :)  We also got to give seven coupons to people we thought could use them.  :)  We found a cute owl notepad @ the Dollar section in Target & gave it to Mady's Auntie Nicole.  :)  Mady was very sweet to me all summer & made me LOTS of "Madypieces"-my FAVORITE was a HUGE poster she made with a HUGE heart on it that said, "I Love You!"  I LOVE that girl & her sweet, sweet heart!
Shawn had a friend at work that gave him a whole bunch of movie notebooks & pens to give to me b/c he knew I liked green-how sweet is that?!?  Shawn took his BD cake to work to share w/ everyone.  :)  Mady & I made several "Giving Plates"-you put something you know the recipient would like on it & it has a little poem on it so they can repeat the kindness-I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea.  We gave our 1st plate to our neighbors, Lee & Mark.  :)
As you can see we've been busy-trying to be kind everyday in anyway!  I'm looking forward to doing this project again in my class & to trying to include Mady in any way possible-especially with AOKs for her teacher & classmates!!!  :)  Here's to another AWESOME year of AOKs-could we reach the 4,000 mark this year?  ;)
Summer Total = 44 :)
