We will be sending care packages to soldiers in Japan & Afghanistan for our September AOK project. We need the items in our classroom by Sept. 22nd. We will be stuffing the boxes the following week. I hope to have them mailed out the 1st week of Nov. so they'll arrive in time for Thanksgiving. Please drop off any donation items to Room 311. :) Thanks for helping make our project successful!

Week # 2
This was a VERY fun week! In just the 2nd wk of school we started seeing the domino effect of doing acts of kindness that I was hoping for! One of our parents works for Pepsico & Monday her son brought in 2 HUGE boxes of school supplies that they donated so that we could help even more students! We were able to help at least 4 teachers, 2 more students, our own class & countless others! Hooray! :)
It was also fun because every AOK we did this wk was FREE! It just took our time, muscles & brains!
I also LOVE the fact that the kids are "getting" it & that our acts can be FREE! :) Like most of Knoxville, we wore orange Friday to show our support for Pat Summitt. One of my sweet students suggested we ALSO write Coach Summitt Get Well cards as an Act of Kindness. I didn't even THINK of that so needless to say I was VERY PROUD! :)

SOOOO EXCITED!
Today one of our parents that works for Pepsico sent in two HUGE boxes of school supplies so we could give more supplies to students in need! I LOVE IT! :) This is EXACTLY what I wanted to do w/ this project. I wanted to show the kids when they make a difference they can INSPIRE others to make a difference too! Hooray! :)

1st Act of Kindness!
We did our 1st act of kindness today! We wrote get well cards for a fellow 1st grader that will be having brain surgery on Monday. The kids were very creative with their cards. They had a lot of questions about the surgery. The little boy's name is Hunter if you want to keep him in your thoughts! Here's a pic of some of their cards. :)
