Back in the Swing of Things (2,225!)

We returned from Spring Break this week & got back in to the swing of things.  :)
I received 3 love notes this week.  :)  Mady & Mr. Holloway also received one.  :)  Taygen made Mady a picture puzzle-she LOVES those-it was SO SWEET of Taygen to think of my girl & she LOVED doing it!  :)  Best of all I got a Love Note from my sweet Boo Bear in my lunch this week.
Mady let her "boys" (Hayden & Gavin) borrow her new movie Frozen b/c they've been wanting to watch it.  :)
We passed along Mady's old play pen to Mrs. Joiner who is expecting a baby soon.  :)  I gave Mrs. Solomon a free drink punch card from Dunkin Donuts.  :)  I gave my Kroger's gas points to Mrs. DePew.  :)
Mrs. Sebastian gave Mady some chocolate chips that were left over from a Social Studies project.  Mady had just said she wanted to bake some thing with chocolate chips so that was perfection!  :)
I got the BEST "Happy Friday" treat from my Secret Pal today-Reese's cups & a D. Coke-it's how I got through today!  ;)
Unbeknowst to Mady during all of our Spring cleaning during Spring Break she donated some items to our treasure bin this week.  :)
Mr. Preston-one of our sweet volunteers-gave one our students a couple of books to help him learn to read better-I thought this was SO incredibly thoughtful! :)
We got a thank-you note from one of our friends that we sent a BD card to & he sent a check to us to spend as we needed-we used it to purchase our butterflies that we'll grow from larvae & release-the kids are SO EXCITED!  Of course we sent him a thank-you card! ;)
My Mom took Mady to a pottery class this week-Mady had SO much fun!  :)
Mrs. Smith was sick & I printed out her lesson plans for her-it was nice to be able to return the same favor that she has done for me so many times!  :)
We did a BD card for Steele's Grandma. :)
Mrs. Russell sent me a calendar that I really liked so I could use it for my classroom.  One of my students had an accident today & I had to take them to the clinic-Mrs. Russell watched my class so I could take him to the clinic.  :)  The clinic volunteer went & got the little boy's Mom (who happens to work at our school) & watched her class so his Mom could come check on him-both of them were SO SWEET!
There was a mess up with Mady's cheer pics.  The company fixed them but we recently got ANOTHER packet of pictures with a VERY nice letter from the president of the company.  He takes our school's picture & in fact his wife is one of our wonderful instructional assistants.  As a parent I was VERY IMPRESSED w/ this letter-the company didn't have to do this but they did b/c they were concerned about the mistake & wanted to fix their mistake.  I was so impressed that I forwarded a note of my own & the company's letter to the woman that is in charge of the cheer pics-I know she had gotten a lot of negative comments about the pics so I wanted to pass along a praise.  :)  I found out that she in turn sent a very nice email to the president of the company-talk about an AOK coming full circle!  :)
I've been forgetting to thank our volunteers again-this month we've had 9 WONDERFUL volunteers come in!  :)
We did our regular recycling this week for K & 1st this week.  :)

Busy, Busy, Busy! (2,170)! :)

Saturday Mady & I had an opportunity to do an AWESOME AOK!  I was tested to see if I could be a bone marrow donor for a 1st grader that goes to Christenberry Elementary that has been diagnosed with cancer.  While parents were doing that kids had an opportunity to make Get Well pics for little Chloe-Mady REALLY enjoyed that!   It was an awesome experience & I truly hope I might be a donor for someone someday!  It also helped remind me to pause in our crazy, busy, hectic lives to remember to be grateful for things I often take for granted-such as our health!  :)
Mady donated a toy to our treasure bin.  Mady donated her old taps & ballet shoes to LG.  :)  Mady also picked me crocuses & daffodils one day this week-what a sweet surprise to come home to!  :)
I got 13 love notes & Zayra sent a note to Mady, my Mom & Mr. Holloway as well-SO SWEET!  :)
One of our skills in class this week was to write Thank-You cards-we all wrote one to somebody.  :)  Shayla S. gave me one & Zayra sent one to Mady b/c Mady made her a diamond for a thank-you for her sweet origami present Zayra had given her earlier in the week.  (It was quite a domino effect of thank-yous!)  ;)
Steele's Mom donated a journal to anyone that needed it in our class-SO SWEET!
We also did a Happy BD card, a Get Well card, and a Have a Good Trip card (a 1st for us).  ;)  We also did a Congrats card for Mrs. Stewart-she had her sweet baby Molly today!!!  :)
I gave a coupon to Miss Joiner.  :)  I gave my secret pal a beautiful hummingbird sun catcher. ;)
One of my FAVORITE things we did this week was to send BD cards to a little boy named Rafael in Australia.  He has leukemia & he's getting ready to turn 10.  He loves mail & he told his Mom that all he wanted for his BD was a bunch of BD cards.  I thought, "We can do that!" :)  The kids had SO MUCH fun doing it!  :)
We also sent Miss Ellyn (in Africa) some "Happy Spring" cards.  :)
Mrs. Russell &  Mrs. Smith both gave me copies I needed.  :)  I shared a parent note with 1st grade teachers for a new thing we'll be starting when we get back from Spring Break. :)
Finally, we did our weekly 1st grade & K recycle.

On Our Way to Our Next Goal! :) (2,048!)

We reached our goal of 2,000 last week & the kids promptly decided to up our goal to 2,500!  Gosh I LOVE those kids!  :)
This week Mady (unknowingly) donated some items to our treasure box.  ;)  Mady also (knowingly) helped vacuum my car AND her NaNa's car!  ;)
It was Dr. Seuss week so I baked some 1 Fish 2 Fish Red Fish Blue Fish cupcakes for them.  :)
Makayla brought me a beautiful rose & a rainbow craft-they were so beautiful & made my heart so full!  :)  Her Mom also sent in some Kleenex for the class which we desperately needed!  :)
We did a Get Well card for a grandmother, a Thinking of You card for a grandfather & a BD card for a friend.  :)
I gave a sympathy card to a friend whose father passed away.  We also sent a Congrats card to my sil-she just received her therapist license.  (Mady said, "Yep!  She's a very good driver!  LOL!) ;)  I also gave a card to one of my friends getting ready to add to her family very soon.  :)
Brody brought me a special chocolate treat-he brought one for snack one day & I told him-I LOVE those!  He's such a sweetheart he brought me one today.  :)
Mrs. Cross & Mrs. Sebastian helped one of my kiddos that had a big water spill.  :)
Mrs. Smith has been letting me use a VERY NICE pencil sharpener that her husband got for her-it makes my life SO MUCH easier!  :)
Now for the BEST AOK of all-Mrs. Smith watched my kids for about 2 hours today so I could go meet my brother & sil with my Mom, Mady & Mr. H.  They are chaperoning a band trip to NY & came through Knoxville for breakfast.  It was all VERY last minute & Mrs. Smith is SO AWESOME for literally just going with the flow & letting me get to have such an AWESOME opportunity!  I haven't seen them since Christmas!  :)
Finally, we did our regular recycle for K & 1st grade today.  We even did our "fun" yearbook pic while we were out there!  :)
