Week 31 & 32-Almost to 1,000! WHAT??? ;)

For the last 2 wks we have been working to give moral support to Mrs. Welden & Mrs. Martin (Marwel's) class for the T-Cap test.  We have recycled twice & given 2 get well cards to two of  our students but the rest of the time was dedicated to supporting our T-Cap buddies.  :)  We gave them "inspirational H20" (w/ encouraging msgs) on it, Smarties that said, "Smartie Pants", Hershey's kisses that said, "Kiss your brain!  You're going to Rock this test!", Cheerios that said, "HH's are Cheering you on!" & finally chocolate chip cookies that said, "You are one smart cookie!"  My kids seemed to really have fun w/ this & I LOVE that they were so supportive of their friends-even though my kiddos don't take the test.  I think they really "got" how important & stressful the test could be.  Hopefully some of my kiddos might even be recipients next year!  I also hope that it let the Marwel's know that we believed that they they could do their best on their test & hopefully that little bit of encouragement helped them!  We are currently @ 940 AOKs.  We have 17 1/2 days left-I know we can get 60 acts done!  I already have 2 to do this upcoming wk!  :)

Week 30-700!

This wk was another short & very busy wk!  We recycled for K & 1st grade & that put us right @ the 700 mark!  We have 27 & half days of school left so we'll see how many more AOK's we can do!  :)  We are adopting a double classroom for T-Cap wk & we are in full swing getting ready for them!  We are giving them "inspirational" water, cookies-that say you're one smart cookie, hershey's kisses that say-kiss your brain, you're going to rock this test, Cheerios-that say-we're cheering you on & smarties that say-you're a smarty pants.  :)  My kids are SO excited to be "doing their part" to help their schoolmates do their best on their test.  :)  I can't wait to take pics of all their hard work.  :)  This AOK might just put us over the 1,000 mark!  :)

Week 28 & 29-680!

I don't usually post mid-wk but will go ahead & post today & if I need to update later I will.  I am just afraid that I will forget what we've done if I wait much longer. ;)  Last wk.  I was out a day & a 1/2 w/ Dr. appt.'s for myself & Mady so...we only ended up recycling for K & 1st.  Yest. we practiced writing narratives to a 4th grade class & sent them Easter pencils as well.  I love it when AOK's & teachable moments actually come together!  :) This wk & next wk are short wks so we shall see how many we get done!  I'm thinking it would be awesome if we could reach 1,000 before the end of the year!  :)
Ps.  I have my own AOK story to share...I should totally do that more often!  ;)   Last Friday we were in front of a woman @ the grocery store.  I did a quick glance @ her buggy & noticed she didn't have very many things-of course we did b/c 1.  We have a toddler & 2.  We only shop every 2 wks.  So...I asked her if she'd like to go ahead of us so she didn't have to wait.  :)  She considered it a minute & said, "Thanks so much for the offer but I remember what it's like to have a one that little.  She's doing so good so maybe if you go 1st you can get out of here w/o a meltdown!"  An AOK to us-full circle!  Now THAT'S AOK in it's best form!  :)
Part 2-this wk we recycled for K & 1st.  My kids were happy to receive their OWN Easter pencils for test day since they'd sent 2 sets to other classes in the last 2 wks!  Have a GREAT Easter wkend everyone!  Enjoy your family & try to do an AOK for someone today-Mady & I held the door open for the Pepsi guy @ Weigel's tonight-he really seemed to appreciate it-it's the little things!  :)
